Coronavirus Update - 4.14.20

Issued April 14, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. CST

We want to provide an update regarding our Querencia community. We learned Sunday, April 12, that one of our Plaza team members tested positive for COVID-19. This team member was exposed to the virus outside of our community and had been self-isolating at home since April 8. In addition, given the personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols previously implemented in the community, this team member had minimal contact with residents and team members prior to self-isolating, and the Travis County health department has indicated that the risk of community transmission of COVID-19 in this case is minimal.

Our Human Resources team is working with the team member to provide support while the team member is completing the required 14-day home isolation protocol recommended by the CDC and the Travis County Health Department. We are committed to being open and transparent, while respecting the privacy of the team member involved.

We have been and will continue to be diligent in implementing procedures to help our community minimize the risk of exposure to the virus. Those precautions include following protocols for long-term care and senior living communities, such as social distancing, requiring the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), as well as encouraging residents and team members to use hand sanitizer and wash their hands frequently. We have restricted gatherings in communal areas and individual apartments, and we have suspended all private and public gatherings, including communal dining. We have also restricted visitors and continue to monitor essential caregivers who visit our community.

You should continue to only leave your home for essential needs. Please follow the infection control guidelines and practice social distancing, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth and disinfect objects you touch frequently, like your cellphone, using household cleaning wipes.

Please contact the Querencia management team with questions or concerns.
